Shannen Doherty (Brenda) star of Beverly Hills 90210 admitted something horrifying just before she died

Shannon Doherty, who played Kimberly on Beverly Hills, 90210, said she was hopeful about her cancer treatment just a few weeks before she died.

The Charmed star passed away on Saturday, 53 years old, after a nine-year battle with breast cancer.

Doherty said on her Let’s Be Clear podcast at the end of June that the molecular structure of her cancer cells had changed not long ago.

The news came after Doherty said that over the past year, her cancer had spread to her bones and brain.

There were “a lot more protocols for her to try,” the Charmed star said, adding that she felt “hopeful.”

At the time, Doherty said she didn’t know how long she would need chemotherapy in the coming months because neither she nor her doctors could tell.

She said, “It’s scary; it’s like a big wake up call.”

Doherty then talked about the good thing about her cells having changed: they would give her more treatment options.

“So, you know, for the first time in a couple of months probably, I feel hopeful because there are so many more protocols now,” she said.

“Whereas before, I was hopeful, but I was still getting prepared.”

GONE TOO SOON
Doherty lost her long battle with breast cancer on Saturday. She was first diagnosed with the disease in 2015.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the death of actress Shannen Doherty,” Leslie Sloane, who worked for the star, told People.

“On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease.”

“Her loving family, friends, sister, daughter, and aunt were all around her, along with her dog, Bowie.”

“The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace,” Sloane said.

In November, Doherty said that the cancer had spread to her bones. She then died.

Even though the news was terrible, she told People at the time, “I’m not done with living.”

“I love you more than ever. I’m still making things. “I hope I’m not done changing things for the better,” the actress said. “I’m just not – I’m not done.”

THE BATTLE OF DOHERTY
The Hollywood actress went into remission in 2017 after chemotherapy. This was nine years after she was first diagnosed with cancer.

But in 2019, Doherty said the cancer had come back. A year later, she confirmed it was stage four breast cancer.

She told everyone in June 2023 that the cancer had spread to her brain and that she had surgery to remove the tumor.

“When you ask yourself, ‘Why me? ‘Why did I get hurt?’ then asked, “Why did my cancer come back?” Why am I in stage 4? “That makes you want to find the bigger point of life,” she told the news source.

She also said she wasn’t scared of dying.

“I think I would be afraid of death if I wasn’t a good person, but I am,” she said.

“I’m not afraid of dying, I just don’t want to die, like, ever.”

LEGACY OF HER
Doherty got his start in Hollywood as a child actor on the TV show Little House on the Prairie. He was in four episodes of the last season of the show.

She went on to be in an episode of the TV show Airwolf and the animated movie The Secret of NIMH.

In 1985, she played Maggie Malene in the movie Girls Just Want to Have Fun.

After only five years, she got her big break when she was cast as Brenda Walsh on the hit TV show Beverly Hills, 90210.

She left the show in 1994 and went on to star in the TV show Charmed and movies like Heathers, Mallrats, and Christmas Caper.

She recently started her own podcast called Let’s Be Clear, which is her first podcast.

Its most recent episode came out on July 8.
